Runways lure me in with music and clothes.
Dropped in for day three of SFW last Saturday, on impulse.

Android Homme High-tops

This is the first brand I’ve come across to go with with a space theme (yaaah moon boots!) for high-tops. Android Homme was launched in late 2008 and is aimed the market between lower priced and luxury sneakers. Android Homme is like an edgy composite of silhouettes from Cipher, Lanvin, Nike, Creative Recreation, and Supra all rolled into one.

Hybris Mechanica 55 trilogy

The Jaeger-LeCoultre Hybris Mechanica a Grande Sonnerie (the most complex watch in the world), Gyrotourbillon, and Reverso Complication a Triptyque.
This is apparently some holy grail of sonnerie watches…in addition to [the Westminster] melody as a chime, the watch features two others, as well as a silent mode. What does this mean? You know those Casio watches that beep at certain intervals? This watch does that same thing, but instead of a beep, you get a little song that is based on tiny hammers and gongs and a ridiculously complex ballet of gears and “magic”. –aBlogtoRead

The three-piece set is presented in a 1.3 ton leather-coated safe with an electronic locking system that has room for 8 more watches…for a grand total of $2.5 million.

Edward Green, Est. 1890

It takes a team of skilled craftsmen weeks to wrought a pair of gentlemen’s shoes over at the England-based Edward Green. Methinks I should go to Europe to kidnap a band of artisans. The states are lacking.
Monks:
Originally worn by monks as early as the fifteenth century, these were subsequently adopted as fashion: buckles and the high tongue were often embellished. The modern monk style was introduced in the 1920’s and there are a number of variations.
Boots:
The leather patinas are to die for.

The Cyclops from Mr. Jones Watches tells time “with a relaxed kind of accuracy that offers a counterpoint to our hectic modern lives.” (Vacation watch!)

Soulland Fedora SS 2010 | BAPE Leather Rider Jacket FW 2009

1. Fedora crown with the brim of a baseball cap? Intriguing.
2. BAPE + minimalism? Whoaaaa.

In painting we see this desire from antiquity to the present, continually visualizing some sort of alternative sense of place or being. My paintings toy with this desire to escape the finite… - Brian Cooper

Shoes & FML Friday
Posted by clarexu under life, shoes | Tags: FML, high-tops, men's shoes |Leave a Comment
Two weeks ago: Fuming about my deceased car battery and waiting for a parking space will open up next to my car with these silhouettes stuck in my head. Of shoes. Had to kill time by penning out what I’m looking for in my next pair of leather shoes or ankle boots. FML Friday wasn’t a total waste.
I like the construction of men’s dress shoes (could go with a with a taller, stacked heel) combined with the flair and the shape of my favorite high-tops. And I gotta have those buckles and straps.

I rarely have bad days. But two weeks ago was a major FML Friday. [Note: I don't have AAA.]
It started when I ran out of ink. (more…)
